Lydian Armenia is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced lab technicians to perform the role of Senior Metallurgical Laboratory Technician. Preference will be given to local area candidates, especially those with Russia/ CIS experience. The Metallurgical Laboratory will be located within the gold processing plant (Adsorption Desorption Recovery). This Laboratory supports process operations by performing routine and non-routine metallurgical tests on ore samples removed from the Process Plant, in particular, Laboratory Heap Leach Tests using column tests, bottle rolls and screen analysis. The Senior Metallurgical Laboratory Technician reports to the Chief Metallurgist. The successful candidates will receive general training about the design and operation of the Process Plant and specific training about the Laboratory procedures and methods to be employed.
Responsibilities
Preoperational Phase:
- Support the Chief Metallurgist in setting up of the new laboratory, developing and establishing procedures and training the lab technician.
Operational Phase:
- Responsible for the day to day running of the Metallurgical Laboratory and supervise (initially) one Metallurgical Laboratory Technician;
- Manage the Laboratory to handle routine and non-routine process plant requirements according to a schedule approved by the Chief Metallurgist;
- Achieve and maintain highest safety and housekeeping standards in the Laboratory;
- Supervise direct report: discipline, training, leave and absences and work roster scheduling;
- Prepare and issue all required test reports and routine weekly or monthly reports in a timely manner as required by the Chief Metallurgist;
- Maintain Laboratory procedures up to date;
- Ensure parts and consumables required for all testwork are available at all times;
- Maintain samples inventories: weekly and monthly composites.
RequiredQualifications
- Committed attitude to safety management and willingness to learn and apply the latest safety practices;
- Previous laboratory experience in a metallurgical, chemical, or sample preparation laboratory;
- University degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry or in a related discipline, or a diploma in chemistry or in a related subject; candidates without a university degree or diploma but with appropriate skills and experience also will be considered for the position;
- Good computer and report writing skills;
- Fluency in Armenian and Russian languages; reasonable working knowledge of English language;
- Valid driving licence is preferred;
- Previous supervisory experience is desirable;
