Responsibilities
Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Work with the My Armenia research team and Product Development Specialist to guide and identify potential tourism opportunities based on ethnographic, historical, natural and other research being conducted by the program in the regions
- Build and manage strong relationships and collaborate with tour operators and other tourism stakeholders/ partners by providing inputs on potential new tourism products in areas where the My Armenia program may expand
- Work with team members to test and refine tourism products to ensure they are ready for visitors and tour operators/ travel agents
- Lead package and routes development efforts that connect tourism products in sellable ways to help promote their tourism experiences, including building on and expanding the Vayots Dzor Wine Route already established by the program
- Lead efforts, with the support of the teams Marketing Specialists, that engage tour operators and other sales channels to help them learn about the tourism products and packages supported by My Armenia
- Lead efforts to introduce the tourism products to the domestic market (tour operators, travel agents, tourists, or through other channels) in cooperation with the Marketing Specialist
- Act on behalf of the tourism products supported by My Armenia as a sale representative to stimulate visitation to the tourism products
- Organize familiarization (FAM) trips to the tourism products once ready, in cooperation with the Marketing Specialist
- Lead efforts to gather feedback from tour operators, travel agents and consumers on the tourism experiences supported by My Armenia and work with the My Armenia team to respond to feedback to improve products
- Lead efforts to work with tour operators, travel agents and other partners to package and promote the tourism products and destinations where My Armenia targets domestic and international clients
- Organize and manage events that connect tourism products to tourism markets
- Follow up with tourism products, once launched, to provide continuing guidance on refining their tourism experiences based on market feedback, in cooperation with the Product Development Specialist. General Responsibilities:
- Maintain open and effective communication with project team in Yerevan and home office team in Washington, D.C.
- Ensure close collaboration and coordination with other team members working on other aspects of the My Armenia program
- Gather monitoring data from tourism products, including but not limited to visitation, revenues, etc.
- Contribute to detailed annual and short-term work-plan development to guide activities
- Regularly prepare written and verbal reports on progress, activities and results of activities
- Perform other duties assigned by My Armenia Chief of Party or Senior Tourism Specialist

RequiredQualifications

- At least 5 years of experience in the tourism sector, ideally with a tour operator or similar business
- Experience in the sale and promotion of tourism in Armenia domestically and internationally
- Experience packaging tourism products and itinerary development
- Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship/ partnership management experience
- Experience with drafting and reporting on individual and organizational achievements
- At least a bachelor's degree in Tourism, or a social science related to the tourism industry
- Ability to work independently with only periodic guidance to achieve assigned responsibilities based on workplans
- Excellent written and verbal English and Armenian language skills
- Strong, demonstrated project management skills and experience working with diverse and remote team members and other organizations
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
- Experience with USAID projects is preferred
- Ability to travel up to 25-30% of the time in rural areas of Armenia, potentially on weekends
