In the framework of FAO "Reducing the Advance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Food and Agriculture" Project under the technical supervision of the Chief Development Law Service (LEGN), the operational supervision of the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, and in close coordination with the Lead Technical Officer in FAO Regional Office, and other members of the Project team, the National Legal Consultant will undertake the tasks mentioned below. This job is home based with field visits.

Responsibilities
- Identify the relevant legislation for antimicrobial resistance (AMR), following the guidance document provided by LEGN. This includes, among others, veterinary legislation, veterinary medicines legislation, food safety, feed, animal production, crop production and pesticides, water quality, waste management and environmental protection;
- Prepare a folder with electronic copies of the legislation identified as relevant for AMR and antimicrobial use (AMU) and include it in an electronic folder to be submitted as a product of the consultancy;
- Using the guidance document provided by LEGN, prepare a report (15-20 pages) with an analysis of national legislation relevant for AMR and AMU;
- Revise the national assessments on AMR and AMU. Collect and revise other materials which might support the purpose of this study;
- Meet with the national Project team and/ or the national contact parts at the different ministries to complete the collection of legislation and ensure consistency between the national assessments and the legal report;
- During the mission of the International Legal Consultant, support the organization of the agenda for the mission, including organizing meetings, be available and participate in all meetings during the mission;
- Coordinate a workshop for presenting the results of the legal assessment and other workshops and activities of legal relevance under the Project;
- Support the identification of one or different areas for legal reform, and support the formulation of recommendations to revise the legislation or, if so requested, the development of new draft legislation;
- If necessary, support the revision of the AMR-related legislation identified in the report;
- Support the Project team in all matters related to AMR regulatory frameworks, including preparation of national reports including references to legislation;
- Collaborate with FAO LEG for the development of a legislative study and comparative legal analysis.

RequiredQualifications
- University degree in Law;
- At least 5 years of relevant experience;
- Good report writing skills and working knowledge of English language.
