Description
The IT Systems Administrator will manage, monitor and maintain production systems, plans, as well as implement, maintain and update systems and resources. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the distributed systems environment, with a focus on Red Hat Linux, Windows Servers, Exchange, VMware ESX, NetBackup. The incumbent must possess knowledge of Windows essential services like Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc., as well as server hardware. The responsibilities of this role include project participation, project implementation and day-to-day administration. He/ she monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance, ensures data/ media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations, conducts routine hardware and software audits of operating system servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures, as well as develops and maintains a database/ library of all supporting documentation.
As the IT Systems Administrator located in the Armenia office, he/ she will occasionally liaison with Toronto staff while performing on-site Desktop Technician duties which require local services such as troubleshooting desktop and laptop computers, applications peripherals and related technology.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, troubleshoot and escalate production issues;
- Apply security and application patches to Windows and Linux platforms;
- Manage and control all aspects of Active Directory: implementing domain and local policies, implementing GPOs, software deployment, managing users and resources;
- Ensure timely delivery of projects and applications;
- Responsible for maintenance and monitoring of infrastructure systems and services;
- Responsible for management of systems infrastructure including fine tuning, performance, capacity planning, reorganization and quality assurance;
- Provide support users including troubleshooting, problem isolation, and solution implementation for above responsibilities;
- Create job report and update documents;
- Provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers;
- Participate to 24/ 7 on call rotation with other team members;
- Support site printers and audio/ video devices to help facilitate meetings;
- Engage vendor support contacts to resolve warranty problems.
RequiredQualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field;
- Experience in a high volume Information Technology industry;
- Knowledge of TCP/ IP networking, cabling, LAN/ WAN protocols, routing protocols and network design;
- Excellent organizational, communication, analytical and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to deliver clear and concise system documentation and manage inventory;
- Sound technical knowledge of MS Windows desktop platforms;
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience;
- Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of servers including Red Hat Linux 7, CentOS 7, Windows Server OS 2008/ 2012, Windows Client OS 7/ 8, IIS, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, GPO, Windows 2008 Certificate server, MS Communicator, SCCM, Windows cluster 2008/ 2012, Exchange Server 2010, email archiving (Veritas EV); knowledge of HP server and Cisco UCS, Red Hat Satellite 6, BES10, AirWatch, PowerShell, Ansible Tower, Puppet, Docker, server firmware/ hardware upgrades;
- Proficiency in VMWare ESX 6 (vSphere) and vCenter;
- Proficiency in RHEL 7 and CentOS 7 in an enterprise environment;
- Ability to troubleshoot, find/ research solution and escalate issues when needed;
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;
- Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of PC operating systems Windows 7, 8.1 and Mac OSX, Office suites 2010 and 2013;
- Familiarity with Smartphone technologies such as iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
