Position: English Teacher/ Coordinator
Contract type: FT (5 days/40 hours per week)
The Experimental English Classes (EEC) of the Center for Research in Applied Linguistics at the American University of Armenia provides communicative English language teaching to children ages 6-16. Currently EEC has branches in Yerevan, Vanadzor, Stepanavan and Echmiadzin with a total enrollment of over 1000 children. For its growing needs, EEC is hiring new English teachers who will support the growth of the program in Armenia and Artsakh.
Responsibilities
-Teach in EEC – the AUA Afterschool English Program in accordance with the approved schedule and curriculum
-Develop syllabi and lesson plans
-Develop additional teaching materials
-Provide administrative support to EEC related to student registration, placement testing, assist during parent-teacher conferences and other EEC-wide events;
-Prepare reports at the end of each term on student progress and achievement;
-Engage in continuous professional development, such as attending conferences, conducting action research projects, and mentoring TEFL Practicum students;
-Support the TEFL program upon request such as providing access to TEFL students and faculty for class observations, data collection, and provide necessary support to Practicum and or Internship students
RequiredQualifications
-Strong command of oral and written English;
-MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), Certificate in TEFL from AUA, or another internationally recognized teaching qualification such as CELTA;
-Experience teaching English to children in a classroom setting.
