Description
The Mining Legislation Reform Initiative (MLRI), a project of the AUA Center for Responsible Mining, seeks to ensure that mining in Armenia provides sufficient benefits to the country and local communities. The initiative involves drafting and passing legislation that elevates the socio-economic benefits of mining, while reducing the negative environmental and public health impacts. The MLRI is made possible by funding from the Tufenkian Foundation.
This position provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to develop and implement innovative communications strategies and manage the project's administration. The role demands strong written and verbal communication skills in Armenian and English languages as well as a commitment to high quality work. Knowledge of office administration, customer relationship management and financial management applications is highly regarded. Previous experience working with Armenian media is essential.

Responsibilities
-Communications responsibilities
-Develop and implement a comprehensive MLRI communications strategy utilizing multiple media platforms
-Actively engage with media organizations and journalists to manage relations with Armenian, Diasporan and international media organizations
-Prepare media briefs for senior staff and develop key messages to support the MLRI communications strategy
-Increase positive promotion of the MLRI brand and profile, by securing exposure of the MLRI in mass media outlets
-Monitor media sources to identify and analyze key mining sector developments, prepare a regular report of mining in media for senior staff
-Manage the MLRI's social media presence on various platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others
-Manage and maintain the MLRI website, including to write and update website content, as well as contribute to website design
-Other general duties
-Support the MLRI manager with stakeholder engagement and management
-Create and manage the MLRI contacts database
-Translate text, articles and other written communications from English to Armenian and Armenian to English
-Oversee management of MLRI events working closely with AUA Center for Responsible Mining (CRM) and AUA Acopian Center for the Environment (ACE) staff
-Undertake financial administration to support MLRI activities
-Work collectively with ACE and CRM staff to support AUA organizational objectives

RequiredQualifications
-Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in business, communications, or journalism
-3-5 years' experience in a similar communications role and experience with office administration
-Spoken fluency in both English and Armenian
-Professional writing proficiency in both Armenian and English, with the ability to proofread and edit texts
-Proven experience in developing website content, designing an online presence and yielding significant online traffic
-Ability and willingness to work under deadlines in a high pressure environment
-Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with the ability to work with a wide variety of government, civil society, and industry stakeholders
