Description
The Health and Safety Superintendent is accountable for the Health and Safety function in designated area achieved through managing, coordinating, developing and analyzing reports in order to comply with legislative and policy frameworks for the Project Operation.

Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible presence in workplace through regular safety interaction;
- Ensure that PPE is used per standard procedures;
- Ensure that own activities as well as those of subordinates and co-workers are performed per Health and Safety standards and procedures;
- Ensure that risk assessments are done for work activities and performed per standards and procedures;
- Comply with environmental policies and legislative requirements;
- Demonstrate awareness, support and contribution to Biodiversity projects and initiatives;
- Participate in the development and implementation of Health and Safety Program;
- Set Health and Safety Objectives and Targets, including planning, implementation, monitoring, recognition and corrective action, monitoring Lydian contractors;
- Schedule and allocate resources to areas and activities of high risk;
- Liaise with contractors and other disciplines to support mentor and instill safety culture;
- Participate in the facilitation and interpretation of Job Hazardous Analysis and the development of Standard Operating Procedures;
- Participate in the facilitation and interpretation of risk assessments;
- Identify high risk activities;
- Update and review site risk register;
- Ensure that everybody understands risk assessment methodologies;
- Participate and oversee workplace inspections, safe checks and hazard identification;
- Control costs and eliminate wastage in area of responsibility;
- Participate in cost saving initiatives;
- Conduct accident/ incident investigations to determine the root cause and identify corrective actions;
- Compile accident/ incident investigations;
- Classify reportable and non-reportable injuries;
- Ensure and monitor the implementation of corrective actions;
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements;
- Participate and ensure compliance with Safety Management standards and audits;
- Participate and monitor compliance with emergency inspections and evacuation procedures;
- Participate and manage routine medical clinic functions.

RequiredQualifications
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent;
- 5-10 years of experience in mining/ process engineering/ construction environment;
- First aid certificate;
- Mine rescue team experience is a plus;
- Fluency in English and Armenian languages.
