Description
The Chief Mechanical Engineer will be accountable for all activities related to the establishment of a new maintenance organization from a zero base at Amulsar Greenfield site. The Chief Mechanical Engineer will manage ongoing maintenance activities with the goal of achieving best practice performance in safety, downtime elimination, and workforce development, amongst other KPI's.
Responsibilities
- Design maintenance strategies, procedures and methods;
- Establish all aspects of a new maintenance operation, ranging from spares, the planning system, workshops, tools, maintenance procedures and other maintenance related features from a zero base;
- Carry out routine scheduled maintenance work and respond to equipment faults;
- Diagnose breakdown problems;
- Fit new parts and make sure equipment is working correctly;
- Carry out quality inspections on jobs;
- Liaise with client departments, customers and other engineering and production colleagues;
- Arrange specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components;
- Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment;
- Monitor and control maintenance costs;
- Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs;
- Improve health and safety policies and procedures;
- Work with specialist equipment, such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), which control machinery on factory assembly lines;
- Write maintenance strategies to help with installation and commissioning guidelines;
- Ensure there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.
RequiredQualifications
- At least 10 years of supervisory maintenance experience in remote mine site plant maintenance, preferably with cold climate experience as well;
- Degree in Engineering, or Trade/ Technical certificates with commensurate experience;
- Proven track-record in safety leadership in a best practice maintenance organization;
- Previous experience of greenfield plant pre-operational readiness planning and startup;
- Demonstrable expertise in shutdown planning and execution, weekly planning, and "fitness for purpose" use of ERP/ CMMS systems;
- International experience, with specific emphasis development and training of local area and in-country workforces;
- Fluency in Armenian and English languages.
