Description
UWC Dilijan College intends to hire a Laboratory Technician reporting to the Head of Science Department who will be responsible for organizing lab activities, including but not limited to ensuring that the labs have all necessary chemicals, all equipment is used and maintained appropriately.

Responsibilities
- Organize on time (usually the day before) the provision of apparatus and materials/ solutions for class experiments and demonstrations; clear away, clean and check equipment after practical activities. Help and support teachers during practical sessions (particularly in the operation of expensive/ sophisticated equipment);
- Ensure care and maintenance of science labs and requesting maintenance for fixtures, fittings and services. Ensure that the laboratories are kept tidy and safe at all times (cleaners are responsible for the cleanliness of the floors and cleared spaces);
- Check inventory of lab equipment and organize lab equipment in appropriate storage spaces with clear labels indicating the equipment within each storage place;
- Make sure that the laboratories are a pleasant and congenial place to work; maintain the aquaria and plants in biology labs, especially during summer;
- Ensure that all stock of chemicals and materials are maintained for imminent requirements and that fresh materials are obtained when needed; records of stock are current and available on a digital database; ordering of large equipment in conjunction with the Head of Department;
- Be present in the laboratories for guidance of project work and supervise permitted work by students in the absence of teaching staff;
- Be involved in risk assessment and inform on health and safety procedures in the laboratories;
- Ensure the safe and appropriate disposal of wastes;
- Complete simple maintenance of apparatus and equipment; ensure that more complex maintenance is carried out by the appropriate organization;
- Help teachers with organizing field trips and make use of local resources;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor, which are directly related to his/ her functions laid down in the employment contract and match his/ her job or position.

RequiredQualifications
- Higher education in Biology or Chemistry;
- Work experience as a laboratory technician;
- Work experience in an international setting is a plus;
- Fluency in English language;
- Willingness to work with students;
- Willingness to work in a boarding school;
- Willingness to live in Dilijan.
