Description
The Field Engineer will support assignments and small projects by completing standard or routine tasks, or activities that require a developmental level of knowledge and skills. The work is performed under close direction of the Superintendent (day-to-day activities are coordinated and overseen by the Superintendent) and duties are assigned with details of specific instructions as to method and procedures to follow. Outcomes are generally reviewed in detail and technical guidance is normally available. The Field Engineer shall maintain timely reporting and ensure open communications with the Superintendent and the Area Manager. All duties and responsibilities shall be performed with a sense of urgency.
Responsibilities
- Complete the assigned tasks according to established guidelines and practices;
- Monitor and assist with the earthworks contractors' field activities within an assigned area, which includes technical oversight and support for safety, quality and the environment; particularly monitor and support water management and sedimentation control;
- Provide an interface for all technical queries and drawing updates between the contractor and Project Engineer or, where directed, the Design Engineer;
- Ensure that daily reporting of progress for the work area is completed and communicated to the Superintendent;
- Report any safety incidents immediately to the Superintendent and never walk by, or fail to intervene;
- Process and record project technical queries and maintain project requests for information (RFI);
- Participate in the pre-job risk assessments for all major tasks to be completed by the contractors within the assigned area;
- Take site photos and maintain the project photo file and project weather diary;
- Monitor contractor's daily LME's/ daily report and record the daily progress of the contractor; confirm activities against time sheets/ daily report and work as monitored in the field;
- Monitor contractors' progress, use of materials and document any delays;
- Monitor contractor's daily work plans and review contractors near term; attend regularly scheduled meetings, including designated weekly contractor, engineering, internal weekly and monthly meetings;
- Work with the engineering groups reviewing layouts, schedule deliverable and construct ability within the design parameters;
- Treat those to whom services are delivered, whether internal or external, as clients;
- Respond quickly and appropriately to project team requests within the area of assigned responsibility; take appropriate action to correct or resolve these concerns or issues and where they cannot be resolved or where they are outside of the area of responsibility;
- Look for and identify more efficient and effective ways to complete tasks; quickly and positively adapt to changing work demands;
- Gather and prepare information to forecast the costs of projects.
RequiredQualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is a plus (Civil Engineers will also be considered);
- Fluency in English, Armenian and Russian languages;
- Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD (competent user);
- Knowledge of scheduling software (at least MS Project);
- High level of safety awareness;
- Ability to understand instructions;
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Company staff;
- Ability to multitask;
- Attention to details;
- Ability to detect errors and correct them accordingly;
- Positive work attitude;
- Good communication skills (writing, reading and speaking).
