Weapon Contamination Field Officer

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organisation with the exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles. Established in 1863, the ICRC is at the origin of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
From various periods of armed conflict, Nagorno-Karabakh has been subject to weapon contamination on various levels. The presence of mines and explosive remnants of war (ERW) pose risks to civilians on a daily basis. To eliminate risks and enhance security awareness in this regard the ICRC Mission in Nagorno-Karabakh is announcing two vacant positions of two-months/full-time (with possible extension) Weapon Contamination Field Officer (hereafter WeC) based in Stepanakert.

Responsibilities
-Main responsibilities:
-Under supervision of the Weapon Contamination Coordinator, the WeC Field Officers' duties will be segregated to two separate oversights: one Field Officer supporting EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) technical side, whilst the other Field Officer focusing on risk awareness and safer behaviour and victim assistance.

-Specifically, he/she will:
-Jointly conduct a knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) survey
-Manage victim database, including follow-up, accuracy and analysis
-Identify, train and accompany suitable host of victim database
-Mentor local partner in explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) capacity-development
-Mentor local partner in risk awareness and safer behaviour

RequiredQualifications
-University degree
-At least 2 years' work experience in WeC/mine action or a similar field
-An explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) Level 2 qualification/certification is a minimum requirement one of the two positions
-Fluent knowledge of spoken and written English, Russian and Armenian
-PC proficiency
-Detail-oriented person, high sense of task prioritizing and ability to handle multi-tasking
-Good knowledge of the geographic area assigned
-Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team will be an asset
